I've been waiting many years for the U.S. Open to come to Chambers Bay and it finally came! While I would have loved to get a press pass and shoot during the tournament rounds I had to settle for shooting during the practice rounds. This was my second opportunity to photograph a golf tournament but just the first time to shoot a golf tournament while knowing what I'm doing. I had the opportunity to shoot golf back in 2009 at the Masters tournament at Augusta National but this was when I was just starting into my photography career. Check out a few of my Masters pics here. (You can tell my editing has changed a little) Now I really feel like I have my look down and have an eye and an idea of how I wanted to capture those three days.
On the eve of Sunday at the U.S. Open I'm anxious to find out whether Jordan Spieth will continue his quest for the Grand Slam or whether another player like Dustin Johnson or Jason Day will win their first major. Can't wait to find out tomorrow! Hope someday to shoot a few more golf tournaments! Here are my favorite photos from the first 3 days at the 2015 U.S. Open!
The old guys can still hit!
This week my dad and I get the opportunity to volunteer at the U.S. Senior Open at Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, WA. Today was the first day and we were positioned at the back of the clubhouse overlooking the putting green. It was a pretty slow day as there weren't too many people coming through our entrance which allowed us time to watch some of the guys practice putting and hitting balls on the range. Overall it was a great day hanging out with my dad and I was able to get some fun shots of the course and players. The last time I was out on the golf course taking photos of professionals was at the 2009 Masters. Boy I wish I could go back there someday! I'm still waiting for Augusta National Golf Club to call me and ask to be one of their official photographers! I'll keep dreaming!
