I've been waiting many years for the U.S. Open to come to Chambers Bay and it finally came! While I would have loved to get a press pass and shoot during the tournament rounds I had to settle for shooting during the practice rounds. This was my second opportunity to photograph a golf tournament but just the first time to shoot a golf tournament while knowing what I'm doing. I had the opportunity to shoot golf back in 2009 at the Masters tournament at Augusta National but this was when I was just starting into my photography career. Check out a few of my Masters pics here. (You can tell my editing has changed a little) Now I really feel like I have my look down and have an eye and an idea of how I wanted to capture those three days.
On the eve of Sunday at the U.S. Open I'm anxious to find out whether Jordan Spieth will continue his quest for the Grand Slam or whether another player like Dustin Johnson or Jason Day will win their first major. Can't wait to find out tomorrow! Hope someday to shoot a few more golf tournaments! Here are my favorite photos from the first 3 days at the 2015 U.S. Open!

This last June I had an opportunity to travel to Rwanda in Africa to help an amazing organization, ERM Rwanda. ERM Rwanda is working directly with the people of Rwanda, specifically widows and orphans of the genocide in 1994. In 1994 one million Rwandans lost their lives in 100 days as the Hutu tribe brutally tortured and murdered members of the Tutsi tribe. The founder of ERM Rwanda, Emmanuel Sitaki Kayinamura, lost 35 members of his family in the genocide and by the grace of God he and his mother escaped. Read his amazing story here.
Nineteen years later ERM is doing some amazing things including running a vocational school where students can learn trade skills such as masonry, carpentry, hair dressing, sewing and welding. ERM is also working directly with widows of the genocide who make crafts that are sold at the local market.
The genocide physically eradicated hundreds of thousands Rwandans, but it did not destroy their living spirit of hope, faith and determination.
