Seattle Christian's basketball season came to an end on Saturday but not after a great game against the Onalaska Loggers in the WIAA Hardwood Classic. It's been a lot of fun to see this team play this season and now I hope Washington Husky fans are ready to watch Katie Collier next season! I was proud of SCS that despite their loss they asked Onalaska if they'd like to pray after the game, "because that's what we do". The two teams who merely minutes earlier had been battling for every last point were now holding hands praying.
Katie Collier University of Washington Basketball Signing
Katie Collier is a senior this year at Seattle Christian Schools and is enduring more than most kids during their final year of high school. While most kids are filling out college applications and just trying to make it to the end of the year, Katie is battling a rare form of leukemia, acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL). The outlook is good for Katie but her and her family can still use your prayers.
This last Thursday was an exciting day for Katie in the midst of weeks of treatment for her leukemia. Katie signed her letter of intent to play college basketball for the University of Washington Huskies. The #21 prospect in the country in the 2012 class by ESPN HoopGurlz celebrated with friends and family at Seattle Christian Schools where she attends.
I've been lucky enough to watch Katie play basketball over the last couple years and she is a baller! At 6' 3" she has an amazing presence on the court with amazing ball handling! The UW is fortunate to have you! Congratulations Katie on your decision to attend the University of Washington! We will continue to pray for you in this journey!
