Do you have a passion for something? How about golf, writing, cooking, or art? Whatever your passion is I'm guessing you weren't the best overnight. You didn't smash 300 yard drives the day you picked up a club. You didn't write a best selling novel the day you picked up a pen to write. You didn't bake the tastiest soufle. You still may not be able to say you've done any of these things but with some practice and probably many mistakes you'll get better.
I went out the other evening around 6:30pm to take some photos around the Space Needle in Seattle. I had about an hour of some great light and was able to take 154 photos. I took a lap around the Space Needle and when it was all said and done and I had a chance to review them at home I was happy with about 10 of them. I mess up. I get exposure wrong. I miss the focus. But I learn from my mistakes. I continue to get better. Will I someday go out and take a 100 photos and be happy with 90% of them.....no but I will be confident that I've taken the right steps in learning photography to get the best possible pictures I can. We will all continue to make mistakes in our lives but it's how we respond to those mistakes that makes us better. How are you responding to the mistakes you make in life?
Here are some shots from that night. To see a few others from the same night see my previous post: Are you and eye or a toe?
