I'm a very literal person and like things right or wrong. I've always liked math because there is always an answer. In photography there isn't right and wrong which is hard for me to deal with. There are so many ways to edit a photo. For some of my photos I've spent quite a while tweaking them in Photoshop to fix certain things or to get a certain look. One of the things I want to try and learn is exactly how to convey my message through the photo. You can share a very different story depending on how you edit a photo. I've found in looking over my photos that I've posted to my flickr account that I tend to increase the saturation. This increase in saturation tends to make photos pop which is nice and appealing to a lot of people but does it tell the story I want? Going forward I really want to consider this for every picture I take and edit. Check out these two photos below. I put two different versions of the same photo. Initially I created the second picture and loved the blue sky but Gasworks is such a rustic park that I thought a vintage photo worked better and out came the first photo shown. So which one do you like? Let me know which one you like the best.
